New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee announced an ex-gratia of Rs. five lakh each to the families of those killed in a railway accident in Madhya Pradesh on Monday.
In a statement issued here, Banerjee also said that each of the grievously injured passenger would get Rs. one lakh while those who suffered simple injuries would get Rs.50, 000.
She also announced jobs in the railways to one person from each family of the dead.
She has given instructions to Railway officials for the speedy relief and rescue operation and for undertaking effective medical treatment to the injured passengers.
Meanwhile, Union Minister and MP from Guna-Shivpuri parliamentary area Jyotiraditya Scindia visited Shivpuri district hospital and inquired about the victims.
Madhya Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have also expressed grief over the accident and conveyed their condolences to the families.
Minister of State for Railways, K.H.Muniyappa, senior Railway Board officials and also officials from West Central Railways (Headquarters at Jabalpur) and North Western Railway (Headquarters at Jaipur) have rushed to the accident site.
At least 15 people were killed and over 50 injured when the Indore-Gwalior Intercity Express collided with a freight train at the Bhadarwas railway station in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri District today.
The incident occurred when a speeding goods train rammed into a stationary Gwalior Intercity express in the wee hours.
