Rahul Gandhi wants Congress in West Bengal strengthened

Kolkata, Sep 15 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asked party activists to strengthen the party in West Bengal for an all-out fight against the CPI-M in the next year's assembly elections.

 

Addressing Youth Congress workers on the second day of his three-day visit to state: Gandhi said:" You have to strengthen Congress so that it can be a determining factor in the assembly elections."

 

He also assured the activists to make Congress a movement-oriented party in the state and look into the problems of tribals in the area.

 

He further said the Congress was serious about forging an alliance with the Trinamool Congress before the coming assembly elections.

 

On Tuesday, during his interaction with the students of the Visva Bharati University, Gandhi said: "Becoming the Prime Minister of the country is not the only job in the world, adding that there are many other jobs that a person can do.If I will be the Prime Minister of India like that is the only job a person can do! There are many other jobs that a person can do," he added.

 

He also said that stress should be given on fine arts studies. You can write to me or to the Prime Minister's Office with your suggestion how to strengthen fine arts studies.

 

He further said corruption is a problem everywhere, and one must find a permanent solution to it.

 

He also inaugurated an exhibition "Three Chancellors" on the tenures of former Prime Ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi as chancellors of the central university.

 

This is his second visit to West Bengal in a fortnight. (ANI)
