'Comeback kid' Beckham feared he'd never play football again during injury

Los Angeles, Sep 13(ANI): England midfielder David Beckham has confessed that he feared he would never play football again.

Beckham has recovered from the Achilles tendon injury, which had ended his dream of playing in a fourth World Cup for England.

"As positive a person as I am, when I suffered the injury there were doubts that raced through my mind. Like, 'Am I ever going to play again?," The Sun quoted Beckham, as saying.

"Those sorts of worries really hit me hard, but you just have to forget about them and push on," he added.

The 35-year-old returned to action for his Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy in their 3-1 win over Columbus Crew on Saturday.

"This was a really emotional moment for me. Turning up at the stadium knowing I was going to be back at last," Beckham said.

"I was back in the dressing room, back with the team and back with a win and that was really sweet," he added.

Earlier, Beckham has admitted that the past six months were the toughest of his career.

"Being on the sidelines for six months has been the toughest part of my career so far. Not playing for six months is really tough. It's the first time that's happened to me in my life," Beckham had said.

"Yes, I've had other injuries, but nothing that has kept me out for so long. It's so frustrating when you are injured and you're not involved in the game and you can't do anything."

"But it's made me realize how much I do love the game. That's one of the biggest things that's come out of me being injured - I still love the game and I'm not ready to finish yet," he added. (ANI)
