Los Angeles, Sep 13(ANI): England midfielder David Beckham has said that if he is not ready for next month's Euro 2012 clash with Montenegro, he will rule himself out of the reckoning.
Beckham has recovered from the Achilles tendon injury, which had ended his dream of playing in a fourth World Cup for England.
"I have always said I still want to be available for England and if I'm fit and well I'm sure the manager (Fabio Capello) will consider me. But I am an honest person and if I'm not fit I will say so," The Sun quoted Beckham, as saying.
The 35-year-old made his long-awaited comeback for his Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday.
However, Beckham further stressed that at the moment he would still need some time for complete match fitness.
"I have been out injured for six months so right now it's a case of still getting my match fitness back," Beckham said.
"I'm working hard and making good progress, but we will have to see how many games I get, how many minutes on the field I can get before the squad is announced."
"Because with this type of serious injury you have to take it one step at a time - and just playing again is a real big step forward for me," he added. (ANI)
