London, Sep 10(ANI): Scotland Yard has said that Pakistan Test captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, who are currently embroiled in a 'spot-fixing' scandal, will leave Britain today.
"We can confirm that we have been made aware that the three Pakistani cricketers interviewed under caution on September 3 intend to leave the United Kingdom today and have given an undertaking through their solicitor to return to assist the Metropolitan Police Service inquiry in due course," The Telegraph quoted a police spokesman, as saying.
British tabloid 'News of The World' has alleged that the three cricketers were involved in a 150,000-pound 'spot-fixing' racket with London-based Mazhar Majeed.
The tabloid claims that the players were bribed to bowl 'no-balls' in the Lord's Test against England.
Meanwhile, Addleshaw Goddard, the solicitors acting for Butt, Asif and Aamer, has released a statement on behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the three players.
"The players are looking forward to being reunited with their families. They remain available to co-operate fully with the police investigation and have each given undertakings to return to the UK if required to do so," the statement read.
The statement also denied reports that Asif would seek asylum in the UK. (ANI)
