Mumbai, Sep. 8 (ANI): Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle unveiled an album called 'Unheard Melodies' here, and celebrated her 77th birthday with her fans.
Though her birthday is on Wednesday, she celebrated it a day before.
"This album includes songs of Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar. These songs are almost 30 years old so very few people must have heard them. When you will listen to these songs, you will get to know how melodious the songs were 30 years ago," said Bhosle.
The renowned singer also talked about the elements she considers integral to a song.
"I have sung songs for Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Urmila Matondkar and Aishwarya Rai. I have sung songs with every singer, no artist is left. I feel that the song should be good; its lyrics should be good. Who is singing doesn't matter much, the song should be soothing to one's ears," said Bhonsle.
Bhosle was born on September 8, 1933, and started her career in 1943. She has sung more than 12,000 songs in 18 languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, English, Russian, Czech, Nepali and Malay, in six decades of her career and has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan award.
Adding to the list, she has recently sung her first Kannada song.
Asha Bhosle has won seven Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer and also the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer twice. By Shaikh Sharik (ANI)
