Hilditch backs Haddin for Ashes comeback

Sydney , Fri, 03 Sep 2010 ANI

Sydney, Sep 3(ANI): Australian chief selector Andrew Hilditch is confident that wicket-keeper Brad Haddin would recuperate from his elbow injury to be a part of the national squad for the Ashes.

Hilditch further said that Haddin, who was not included in the 16-man squad for the two-Test tour of India, could even return for the three-match ODI series after the Tests.

"We don't see any issues as far as the Ashes," The Age quoted Hilditch, as saying.

Haddin missed July's ODI series against England and the two Tests played against Pakistan that followed due to a tendon injury that made batting impossible for him.

The 32-year-old has worked hard to overcome the problem, and was helped by a recent treatment that resulted in having his blood drawn and the red blood cells and plasma separated.

A doctor injected the resultant concentration of platelets back into the affected area, and Haddin insists that he has felt relief ever since.

The first of the five Ashes Tests will be held at The Gabba in Brisbane from November 25 to 29.

It will be followed by Tests in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

Two Twenty20 clashes and a seven-match one-day series have also been scheduled between Australia and England. (ANI)
