London, Aug 31 (ANI): International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO Haroon Lorgat wants a prompt and decisive action to be taken against the four Pakistani cricketers if the betting scandal involving them is proved correct.
The ICC held a conference call to discuss whether Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif, and Kamran Akmal should be banned from the remaining matches of the England tour.
"I am 'very very determined' to punish any players found to be corrupt. We will do our utmost to ensure that before any players who are found to be guilty actually take to the field of play they are brought to book," Sky News quoted Lorgat as saying.
"We will adopt a zero tolerance approach. The integrity of this sport is fundamental," he added.
The ICC's own anti-corruption team is heading to London to investigate, while the Pakistan Government has also sent senior detectives to talk to those accused of having links with the bookmaker.
Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed has, however, said there were no changes to tour plans.
"I have my hands full - we have no time to talk to you. New kit has just arrived and I am dealing with that right now," said Saeed after the squad arrived in Taunton ahead of a friendly against Somerset on Thursday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier this year banned former skipper Younus Khan and tour captain Mohammad Yousuf for an indefinite period. (ANI)
