Incessant rains continue to cause havoc across Punjab

Ferozpur/Motihari (Bihar), Aug 29 (ANI): Incessant rains complicated the flood situation in Punjab further, leaving several people homeless and acres of cropland destroyed.

 

With the River Satluj flowing above the danger mark, floodwaters have affected low-lying areas, crippling normal life in Punjab's Ferozepur District.People are facing a lot of problems in commuting. School children and soldiers of the Border Security Force (BSF) are also facing a lot of problems. No help has been given to us by the government. Land owners and farmers are facing problems as their standing crops spread over 7000 acres has been destroyed," said Gurmeet Singh.

 

People said they expected help from the government, but nothing was forthcoming.

 

"Nobody from the government has come here to assess the situation. The government is not providing us any help. Our 500 to 700 acres of land has been damaged and nobody is here to help," said Manmeet Singh, a resident of Ferozepur District.

 

The flood situation is also grim in Bihar's Motihari District.

 

Many homes have remained submerged, rendering hundreds of families without any shelter. By Sarabjeet/Ajay Kumar (ANI)
