Islamabad, Aug.28 (ANI): Pakistan's head coach Waqar Younis is reportedly upset over the selection panel's decision to axe all rounder Shoaib Malik from the one-day squad which would take on England in the five match series starting September 10.
Sources close to the team revealed that Waqar had an altercation with both ODI and T20 skipper Shahid Afridi, as well as chief selector Mohsin Khan over their decision to omit Malik and young middle order batsman Umar Amin from the squad.
"Waqar felt that Pakistan needed Malik's experience for the one-day series and he would get back into form soon. While he also believes that Amin is a great talent for the future and must be given confidence," The Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.
Earlier this week, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 16-man team for the upcoming series, retaining veteran middle order batsman Mohammed Yousuf in the squad.
While controversial speedster Shoaib Akhtar succeeded in earning a recall, all rounder Malik, who was left out of the Test squad earlier because of his awful form, was axed. (ANI)
