New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): A large number of writers, engineers, artists, professors and academicians from Karnataka paid rich tributes to Bharata Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Vishveshvaraiah on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary here on Friday.
Inaugurating the celebration organised by "Dehali Kannadiga", a Kannada monthly published from New Delhi, its editor M B Samaga said: "Vishveshvaraiah rightly called as the 'Father of modern Mysore (now Karnataka) and as a Diwan for first minister of princlely State of Mysore, was responsible for founding of Krishnaraja Sagara Dam, Mysore Soap Factory, Bhadravathi Iron and Steel Works, Bangalore Agricultural University, State Bank of Mysore and University of Mysore."
"Reconstructing India and Memoirs of my working life are the books written by M.V. and received prestigious awards including 'Bharata Ratna' in 1995," he added.
Samaga urged the Central Government to start 'Duranto Express' train between Bangalore and New Delhi and name after Sir Vishveshvaraiah. (ANI)
