Karachi, Aug.26 (ANI): Former India captain Kapil Dev has backed the idea of hosting a India-Pakistan exhibition match to raise funds for the thousands of flood victims in Pakistan.
Expressing sorrow over the huge loss of life and property in the devastating floods, Kapil told a private television channel that players from both countries should come forward to raise funds for the flood victims.
"I would like to see an Indo-Pak match for the purpose of raising funds for the flood victims," said Kapil.
"It's a huge calamity and to help the affected, Pakistan and India should ideally play either in Pakistan or India, but if it is not possible then a neutral venue is also an option for both boards," he added.
Sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that the board is in touch with both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) to organise fund raising matches.
"We are also in touch with the ICC to help and support in organising the Indo-Pak match. The PCB is keen to raise more funds for the flood victims," PCB insiders said. (ANI)
