Sydney, Aug 23 (ANI): Cricket Australia selectors are frustrated, as they are not certain about their future, and one of them is all set to lose his job after Greg Chappell was made the new national talent manager.
Merv Hughes, Jamie Cox and David Boon have still not been informed if they still have a job with Cricket Australia, despite Chappell joining Andrew Hilditch on the national selection panel of four, which means one will have to vacate his spot.
"At no stage have they told any selector that his job is being dissolved, discontinued. One of us has to drop off, not anyone has been told who that one is going to be. Our future is in someone else's hands," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Hughes, as saying.
"Obviously, we would like to know who it is. If it is me that gets dropped off the list, I have enjoyed my time with the Australian cricket team. It has been absolutely fantastic. What happens going forward is out of my hands," he said.
Cricket Australia appointed Chappell, who will vacate his current position as the head coach of the Centre of Excellence, to take on the official role of national talent manager operating from Melbourne.
The current selectors were not told when the appointment of a full-time selector was announced in June, claiming they were not informed of the new role until it was publicised.
Hilditch retains his role as panel chairman, but Chappell will handle the day-to-day dealings with state selectors, coaches and media. (ANI)
