Zimbabwe offers to tour Pakistan to raise funds for flood victims

Karachi, Sun, 22 Aug 2010 ANI

Karachi, Aug.22 (ANI): Zimbabwe has offered to tour Pakistan to raise funds for the victims of the devastating deluge, which has affected nearly 20 million people.

Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) media manager Nadeem Sarwar said the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) has proposed to play a series in the country to help raise funds for the flood victims.

"They are willing to come over and play a series as they want to help us raise funds for the flood victims. They have left it up to us to give dates and schedule for the tour," The Daily Times quoted Sarwar, as saying.

Foreign teams have refused to visit Pakistan following the brazen terror attack on the visiting Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in March last year forcing the PCB to host 'home' series abroad.

Six Pakistani policemen and a van driver were killed while five Sri Lankan players were in the attack, which took place just outside the Gaddafi Stadium.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had also shifted 2011World Cup matches from Pakistan in the wake of the terror attack. (ANI)
