Pak asks India to block 'fake' kabaddi team's visit

Islamabad , Thu, 19 Aug 2010 ANI

Islamabad, Aug 19(ANI): The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) has asked the Indian Embassy in Islamabad to block the visit of a 'fake' kabaddi team to India.

PKF Secretary Mohammad Sarwar made the request in a letter written to the Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabarwal.

"A so-called kabaddi federation from India has extended a fake invitation to their counterparts in Pakistan. The PKF has nothing to do with this fake body and it will also not be responsible for their conduct on and off the field," The Dawn quoted Sarwar, as saying in the letter.

"We have learnt through a news item appeared in local press and after a probe initiated by the PKF, it was revealed that around 20 local amateur players will be travelling to India and appear in 15 kabaddi matches," he added

He further said that the PKF has also briefed the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and the All India Kabaddi Federation (AIKF) over the issue.

"We have informed the Pakistan Sports Board and requested them to convey their concerns to the Foreign Ministry and the departments concerned," Sarwar said.

Sarwar also claimed that if the fake kabaddi players were allowed to travel to India it would have a negative impact on the registered sports bodies. (ANI)
