New Delhi, Aug 18 (ANI): A large number of Kanada writers, journalists, artists, professors and academicians on Wednesday paid their rich tributes to veteran Kannada journalist Sridhar Achar, who breathed his last at Bangalore on August 14.
In the condolence meeting organized by 'Dehali Kannadiga', a Kannada monthly published from Delhi, its editor M B Samaga said: "Achar as an Associate Editor of Prajavani, a Kannada daily, started a new era in Kannada journalism and also served Samyuktha Karnataka, Kannada Daily, Sakshath Suddi, Kannada Eveninger."
"As a Chairman of Karnataka Media Academy and Press Club of Bangalore," he implemented many programmes for welfare of journalists and received Karnataka Rajyotsava award, Karnataka Media Academy award and Best Journalist award in 1995," he added.
Samaga said an award will be instituted by 'Dehali Kannadiga' in the memory of Achar, which would be given to a distinguished Kannada journalist in the 28th National Kannada Sammelana to be held in New Delhi in April next year. (ANI)
