Sydney, Aug 18 (ANI): England's No.3 batsman and one of the main architects of the defining victory at The Oval in last year's Ashes series, Jonathan Trott, has said that Ricky Ponting has put more pressure on the Australian team by boasting that they could win the Ashes 5-0.
Trott, who scored a decisive second-innings century in the fifth Ashes Test, said his lone experience against Australia had taught him they don't always win games they plan to.
"I don't know Ricky Ponting that well ... or what he would be meaning behind saying stuff like that. If I were to say something like that I'd find it would put pressure on me and the team more than if we just go about our business like I know we will," he said.
"The thing is, I've only played one game against them and they wanted to win that game, but that didn't work out too well for them and it worked out well for us and that is all I can really say," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.
Ponting was asked if his side could win 5-0, and, as an aggressive captain, he was never going to deny the possibility.
However, some analysts are not even confident that Australia will win the Ashes series in light of recent performances and injuries.
Pakistan opener Imran Farhat rubbished the 5-0 line, saying Australia are a side in decline.
"Australia talk too much. I think Australia is going down now. We can beat them and England can beat them," said Farhat. (ANI)
