Lahore, Aug.17 (ANI): Pakistan suffered yet another blow on the England tour with wicket keeper Zulqarnain Haider, who played a gutsy knock of 88 runs in the second innings of the Edgbaston Test, being ruled out of the rest of the Test series due to a finger injury.
Zulqarnain , who made his debut during the second Test, would return back home, as doctors have advised him three weeks rest to recuperate from the injury.
"Zulqarnain had sustained a hairline fracture on his finger while playing in the second Test on the ongoing tour of England. The tour management has not requested for a replacement as yet," The Daily Times quoted a PCB official, as saying.
"We are sending him back in a few days," Pakistan associate manager Shafqat Rana added.
Zulqarnain was hit badly on his hand by an unnecessary throw from England fast bowler Stuart Broad during the second Test match. Broad was fined 50 percent of his match fee for his act.
However, Zulqarnain told a private television that he is still hoping to play in the fourth and last Test of the series.
"The physiotherapist examined has me and gave me ten days for the injury to heal. But I will be seeing a specialist on Wednesday after which I will know if I can be available for the fourth Test," he said.
Pakistan are also expected to make three changes in the team with pace bowlers, Tanvir Ahmed or Wahab Riaz set to make their Test debut at The Oval in place of Umar Gul, who has been ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury. (ANI)
