London, Aug 15(ANI): Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf has confessed that he is nowhere near being match fit for Test cricket ahead of the third match against England, starting from August 18 at The Oval.
"The fitness levels you maintain when playing first class cricket are entirely different to the levels of fitness you maintain when playing a few local club matches as I was in Lahore before arriving in England," PakPassion.net quoted Yousuf, as saying.
"If I'm being honest, I am not entirely Test match fit, but I will utilize my experience, as my country needs me," he added.
The 35-year-old boosted his chances of a Test comeback with an impressive unbeaten 40 on the rain-hit opening day of the two-day tour match against Midlands County in Worcestershire.
He was unable to extend his score as the play was abandoned on the second and final day.
"I would have wanted some valuable time in the middle today, to get some practice and also it would have boosted my match fitness. However it wasn't meant to be and there's nothing I can do about it," Yousuf said.
Yousuf was recalled for the ongoing tour after Pakistan's brittle batting order struggled in the Test series against Australia and the first match against England at Trent Bridge.
However, he opted to sit out of the Test, as he had landed in England on the eve of the match.
The veteran has not played for his country since January after being banned indefinitely following the winter tour to Australia.
The tour of England still has two Tests, two Twenty20s and three ODI. (ANI)
