Melbourne, Aug 15 (ANI): The security situation, infrastructure problems and the event falling so late in the season is set to take another toll in star cancellations, with world indoor long jump champion Fabrice Lapierre seriously considering not participating in the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games.
Lapierre may join superstar Usain Bolt and British golden girl Jessica Ennis in pulling out of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games.
Lapierre, 26, said he was still wrestling with the decision about whether to compete in India in October.
"It is a bit of everything. I hear a lot about the security and in October that is normally my lay-off time so I sort of don't want to really jump in October as well. It is everything rolled into one really," the AAP quoted him, as saying.
"It is in October which is a really bad time of the year for me and I am tempted to pull out because I don't know how well I will be jumping in October," said Lapierre, who sits third on the 2010 world rankings.
"I probably won't be jumping that well or at my best and my main competition, they have not really jumped yet and I think they are trying to peak for these Commonwealth Games. I am not going to be in peak condition and obviously that is going to be a factor."
He said he was in a bind about what to do. "I don't want to go to Delhi but I want to jump, so we will see what happens," Lapierre said. (ANI)
