New Delhi, Aug 11 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday visited various construction sites of Commonwealth Games to supervise its progress.
Her visit came a day after the government extended the deadline for debris clearance to August 31 as various civic agencies failed to remove all Commonwealth Games related demolition waste from the city.
She visited various parts of South and Central Delhi such as Connaught Place, Paharganj and Karol Bagh where heaps of rubble can still be seen.
She also instructed the officials at the site to expedite the job at the earliest to initiate streetscaping work to give a presentable look to the city.
On Tuesday she said: "All construction waste would soon be cleared from project sites."
"Most of the work has been done and the debris clean up has been completed also," she added.
Earlier on July 30, Dikshit said: "I have said before that all most of the big malba, will be cleared by August 10. Most of the work will be completely by August 30-31st." "We have kept the whole month of September to completed any other work."
She had also reiterated that there would be no deviation in the deadline to halt digging work and to remove the malba.
The Delhi Government is under increasing attack for the city's slow preparation for the event as several key infrastructure projects are yet to be completed. (ANI)
