London, Aug 11 (ANI): The England team may have registered its sixth Test victory in a row, but there are some heartening signs for Australia ahead of the forthcoming Ashes series.
According to the Sunday Morning Herald, England stands exposed when opponents decide to be resilient and up for the challenge.
Therefore, the message for Australia after England's emphatic win over Pakistan would be to get the Andrew Strauss-led team onto a flat pitch under sunny skies and play indomitable cricket.
"Pakistan have shown all the resilience of a cheap umbrella on a windy day during the series, but the merest hint of gumption from their lower order during the second Test at Edgbaston caused home tempers to flair, culminating in a fine for paceman Stuart Broad," reports the paper.
Off-spinner Graeme Swann, who finished with a Test-best six wickets for 65 runs in 37 overs, as Team England registered a nine-wicket victory over Pakistan in the second Test match played at the Edgbaston, appears to agree, as does Captain Strauss.
"It doesn't matter how good you are, you don't have everything your own way all the time. We got a double whammy because the ball didn't swing and also the wicket died, so there was no real carry or menace with the ball, and that's always going to be tough for the seamers," said Strauss after a 2-0 lead in the four-Test series against Pakistan.
England will take on Australia in the Ashes series in November, where they have not won a Test series since 1986/87.
There is a doubt whether their bowling attack can prosper in generally less swing friendly conditions. (ANI)
