Karachi, Aug 10(ANI): Former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Qadir believes that lack of strategy has hurt the national team in the ongoing disastrous tour of England.
Pakistan lost the Edgbaston Test against England by nine wickets, and is now 2-0 down in the four-match series. They had earlier lost the first Test at Trent Bridge by 354 runs.
Qadir said that due to a lack of proper strategists in the dressing room, the Pakistani batsmen were forced to go on the defensive and play a different game.
"Imran Farhat faced 24 deliveries and eventually lost his wicket without scoring a single run. It could easily be ascertained that he had been given directions not to go for big shots, which is his strong point," The News quoted Qadir, as saying.
"Same was the case with Azhar Ali and Salman Butt. So, one can easily see where the problem lies and the problem lies with the think-tank present with the team and not the players," he added.
He claimed that the team' top-order has been struggling to score runs only because they are burdened and put under pressure by the think-tank.
"Why the tail-enders are able to score in matches while the specialised batsmen are struggling. The reason is that they are playing under pressure while the tail-enders are playing their natural game," Qadir said.
Qadir further said that if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to help the team for the remaining part of the Test series, they should sent an emergency advisory committee to England.
The tour still has two Tests, two Twenty20s and three ODI against England. (ANI)
