Documentary film on Indian Women's Cricket team screened in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 6 (ANI): Documentary film 'Poor Cousins of Million Dollar Babies' on Indian Women's Cricket team was screened in the presence of Rani Mukherjee, Bollywood actress and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Disciplinary Committee, here on Thursday.

 

'Poor Cousins of Million Dollar Babies' is directed by Sunil Yash Kalra.ani Mukherjee said she supported the team and called for encouragement of women to take up sports.

 

"As women, we are proud to be women, and to see the girls playing with so much of passion, I think that makes me very, very excited, because as an actor I'm very passionate about my job and I think girls are great, and best in all fields, and today I am here to support them and I think, as Jyotiraditya Scindia said, I think we all should put in our best, a little bit so that we can encourage them and we can help them," said Mukherjee.

 

Scindia said:"Women in our country are a treasure trove of talent of human resource, and if any country has to be developed one, a progressive one, not only do we need to celebrate the talent of our ladies and our women, but we need to make sure that we nurture it, we progress it, and we aid it and encourage it as much as we do it in other fields."

 

Anjum Chopra, former captain of the Indian Women's Cricket team was also present at the event. She has played for India for 15 years and was also actively involved in the making of the film.

 

The 27-minute film was shot over a span of four years in South Africa, Australia, England, West Indies and India, and includes footage from various matches as well as from the girls' changing room.

 

The official poster of the film was unveiled by Bollywood film writer Jaideep Sahni, Rani Mukherjee, Anjum Chopra, along with director Kalra and producer Bava Mahdood. (ANI)
