London, Aug 03 (ANI): Former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler said that he is glad he wrote his memoirs because putting his experiences down in print has helped him escape his troubled past.
Adler was evicted from the band in 1989 due to rumours that his addiction to drugs was hampering his performance, and he has long struggled with his addictions.
Adler was ordered to serve in a rehab last in 2009 after a 2008 felony drug charge, and his battle to sober up was chronicled on U.S. reality TV show Celebrity Rehab with Doctor Drew and its spin-off series Sober House.
Adler, who has now given up his addictions, recorded his struggles in new book My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses. He is convinced that writing the autobiography helped him forget about his problems, reports The Daily Express.
"There are some really devastating things in the book, and getting those things out and actually reading the thing once I got them out made me realise I could move on with my life," Adler told the Boston Herald.
"Working on the book, I did my crying and yelling and pounding on the wall and throwing bricks through the windows. Whatever it took to get those emotions out of me and onto the page, that's what I did to heal," he added. (ANI)
