My parents would be terrified if I said them about death on tracks: Hamilton

London , Sun, 01 Aug 2010 ANI

London, Aug 1 (ANI): Formula one ace driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he will never prepare his parents to accept that he could be killed on the track.

Britain's former world champ will risk his life racing at 200mph when he bids to extend his championship lead in Hungarian Grand Prix, News of the World reports.

Hamilton will line up on the Hungaroring track where 12 months ago F1 came the closest to suffering its first death since Brazilian legend Ayrton Senna was tragically killed 16 years ago.

Ferrari's Felipe Massa (right) needed life-saving surgery on a fractured skull after a 2lb metal spring pierced his helmet after flying off another car.

Hamilton, 25, said: "My parents would be terrified if I said that to them. They know how I am and they know I never have any fear. That's how I live. But they have been prepared their whole life for racing. The danger aspect has been a part of their whole lives."

"And the sport is safe, we're always improving safety. I only think of today. Being a racing driver, being someone who loves taking risks and lives in the fast lane, flying around the world all the time, anything can happen. I just want to ensure that I enjoy whatever I'm doing now," The paper quoted Hamilton, as saying.

Hamilton will line up fifth on the grid after Red Bull again dominated yesterday's qualifying. (ANI)
