Indian High Commission denies Kalmadi's claims on AM films recommendation

New Delhi, July 31 (ANI): The Indian High Commission on Saturday refuted Commonwealth Games organizing committee's chairman Suresh Kalmadi's claim that the Commission had recommended the London-based AM Films to CWG.

 

A private channel quoted the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom as stating: "AM films not one of the firms we recommended to CWG."Raju Sebastian is too junior official to make a recommendation," the statement said and further added: "He may have recommended in personal capacity."

 

"Don't know the e-mail Kalmadi quoted is genuine or not," the High Commission was further quoted as saying.

 

Kalmadi has said that contact was made after "Indian High Commission's letter recommended Patel's firm to us.

 

"Contract to AM films after Indian High Commission recommended to us," Kalmadi was quoted by NDTV as saying .

 

During a news conference in New Delhi today, Kalmadi when asked who recommended AM Films to CWG Organising Committee, said: "I am telling you the British High Commission. They have said AM Car and AM Films are sister companies. Since they said one is ok, so both should be ok. There was a meeting of all the various heads of companies and all the people in London including the London authority, ambulance and fire brigade, along with out event managers. They said in that all the requirements like skills. In October Mayor of City Council, they insisted on visuals items, they asked fro safeguards, President OGF India was there. We took last minute decision."

 

He said the High Commission recommended a sister company, so we went with that

 

When asked that the Indian High Commission has denied recommending the name of AM Films, Kalmadi said: "There is no question of lying...........The High Commission letter was sent by Raju Sebastin on 13th Oct at 1.59pm. It has come from the High Commission and we have gone according to the High Commission." (ANI)
