Cricketers back 'Not In My Game' campaign to fight against terrorism

London , Wed, 28 Jul 2010 ANI

London, July 28 (ANI): A group of cricketers, including former Pakistan spinner-turned England spin-bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed, have lent their support to an anti-terror campaign 'Not In My Game' to fight against the menace.

The aim of the campaign is to encourage cricket fans around the world to make clear that incidents such as last year's terror attack on the Sri Lanka team in Lahore, have no place in the sport.

"Atrocities like these have a terrible impact on the game we love. It affects everyone and everything - players, fans and morale," The Daily Times quoted Ahmed, as saying.

"That's why I'm backing Not In My Game, a campaign which sends a clear message that terrorism will not be tolerated in cricket or any other sport," he added.

Paul Farbrace, former Sri Lanka assistant coach who was injured in the Lahore attacks, said that the campaign is all about pulling people from all communities together to send a clear message that nobody will tolerate terrorism.

"Having witnessed the attacks first hand and seen the shockwaves felt throughout the world, I am convinced of the need to gather international support in opposing acts of terror targeted at sport," Farbrace said.

"I urge everyone to go online now and sign the pledge at www.notinmygame.com," he added. (ANI)
