Washington, July 25 (ANI): Mel Gibson's ex Oksana Grigorieva allegedly began taping the actor's rants shortly after he accused her of having an affair with a "tree man."
Sources say that the Oscar-winning actor supposedly flew into a jealous rage during the incident in February, confronting Grigorieva with his belief that she was cheating on him with her landscaper, reports TMZ.com.
The insiders also claim that Gibson, who had decided to give up smoking the same day, reportedly told Grigorieva that he feared he would end up hurting her and their 3-month-old daughter Lucia, prompting her to start recording their future interactions.
However, the sources claim that Gibson was not physically violent towards Grigorieva in the time between an incident in January, where she claimed that he knocked out her teeth, and the affair accusations that sparked Grigorieva's decision to make the tapes.
Other sources close to Gibson have also stated that he "absolutely did not injure" Grigorieva.
The recordings were made on February 18. (ANI)
