London , Sat, 24 Jul 2010 ANI

London, July 24(ANI): Pakistan on Saturday registered their first Test win against Australia in 15 years, when they scrammed home to a three-wicket win at Headingley, to level the two-match series 1-1.

Needing just 40 runs to win with seven wickets left at the start of play, Pakistan witnessed a batting collapse when they lost Azhar Ali, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal, but eventually finished on seven for 180 to ensure the win.

Australian fast bowlers Ben Hilfenhaus and Doug Bollinger took three wickets each, as Pakistan lost six wickets for 42 runs.

However, Umar Gul hit the winning run in the 51st over with a drive through cover off Mitchell Johnson, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Imran Farhat was Pakistan's top scorer with 67, while Azhar Ali added four to his overnight total, making 51 from 107 balls, with six fours.

It was Pakistan's first Test victory over Australia since 1995, with the Australians winning 13 matches on the trot since then.

Australia had won the first Test at Lord's by 150 runs (ANI)
