Now, you can't have more than 5,000 friends on Facebook

New York, July 21 (ANI): Social networking site Facebook has set a limit allowing users to have only 5000 friends.

According to Facebook spokeswoman Meredith Chin, only "a fraction of a percent" of the site's 400 million global users has topped the limit, making the few that do have 5,000 pals a new, albeit strange, sort of elite.

The site put a restriction for "back-end" technical reasons, but users can also create "fan" pages, which have no limit, the New York Post reported.

A look at why anyone would want so many friends showed that while some do it to promote themselves, others do it to promote their business. (ANI)
