Sydney, Jul 20 (ANI): Australian skipper Ricky Ponting wants the International Cricket Council to use the decision review system in every Test series.
The referral system is not in action in Australia's current two-match series against Pakistan in England because the Pakistan Cricket Board was not prepared to meet the additional costs involved.
One of the problems with using technology for reviewing decisions is getting broadcasters and home boards to agree to their share of costs, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Ponting said there had to be consistency, with Australia playing two series without the system in England and in India before having to adjust to it again for the home Ashes series later this year.
"Look I got my point across at the referees' meeting before this series, I just think probably even the ICC could have stepped in on this occasion. It is a financial thing at the end of the day, that is the reason we are not using it," he said.
"So I thought the ICC could have come in and done something about it but it has not eventuated and that is just the way it is. So we just have to get on with it. You do get used to playing a certain way and having some decisions sent back for referral but that is what we have got," Ponting added.
The ICC's main stumbling block has been boards negotiating what they consider to be their fair share of costs involved in the use of the technology. (ANI)
