PCB opts against 'umpire decision review system' for Test series

London , Thu, 15 Jul 2010 ANI

London, July 15(ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s inability to splurge extra money on the 'home' series against Australia in England has resulted in the absence of the umpire decision review system.

The system, which requires additional staff and equipment, is not in operation at the Lord's Test and will not be used in Headingley as well.

Pakistan might have benefited the most from having the system in place based on the events of day one, primarily when Simon Katich, on two, was struck in front of off-stump by Mohammad Aamer in the third over of the day, only for the umpire to reject the appeal, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The left-handed batsman went on to make 80 in the low scoring match.

The lbw decisions against Michael Clarke (47) and Steve Smith (one) would also have been reversed on video evidence. (ANI)
