New York, July 10 (ANI): James Cameron has apparently pocketed a whopping 350 million dollars for directing 'Avatar,' the highest-grossing film of all-time.
Deadline.com reports that the huge sum came because Cameron had signed a deal that assured him a big payday only if the expensive movie turned a profit, which, of course, it did, grossing 2.7-billion-dollar worldwide.
Cameron was nominated as Best Director at the 2010 Academy Awards for his work on the film.
But it not only the theatrical release that filled his pockets but also the April DVD release was a record seller in both traditional and Blu-ray format, reports the New York Post.
A second "special edition" version will be released around Christmas. (ANI)
