London, July 8(ANI): Red Bull racing driver Mark Webber reckons the 'friendly relations' between McLaren teammates Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button will end up messy when the Formula One title fight heats up.
The McLaren duo have so far developed a solid relationship in the wake of Button's entry into the team, despite many suggesting his move was a disaster waiting to happen.
However, Webber believes the duo will clash on the track because they are fierce competitors fighting hard for championship glory.
"I believe they are working hard to put up a bit of smoke and mirrors, but those two are racing each other. They have not had the sort of incident Seb and I had - yet. But if you are racing at the front, inevitably it is going to come," The Sun quoted Webber, as saying.
"I am not saying Hamilton and Button will hit each other this weekend. What I am saying is that it's inevitable given what is at stake and as both are hungry and driven," he added.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner supported Webber's claims, and said that one incident is all it will take for the "love in" to fall apart.
"It will take only one small incident for things to flare up between the McLarens. They won't be having so much of a love-in when that happens. Jenson did not sign a contract to be a No 2 driver, so it is inevitable that, in a competitive sport, they will all be pushing each other," Horner said.
"They haven't really raced head to head and it will be interesting when they do. The only time they appeared to was in Istanbul and they got pretty close then," he added.
Championship leader Hamilton has a six-point lead over Button going into Sunday's British Grand Prix at Silverstone. (ANI)
