London, Jul 6 (ANI): Germany's coach Joachim Low has admitted that he drew inspiration from English football amongst others, when he started plotting the comeback of the German football team as a world force.
He said he borrowed aspects from several different countries and fused those styles together that have carried his country to the brink of the World Cup final.
"I've seen a lot of international football, I have soaked it all up and taken away many aspects. In England, the tempo is incredible and something to be emulated. In Spain, there is the free-flowing style, technique and skill and you can see that's something that is second nature to them, even to their youth teams," he said.
"Italy won the World Cup in 2006 with a perfect defensive play but the game has moved on in the last four years. The teams in the final four have solid defences but you have to have more than that, a more versatile style of play. I've soaked up a lot of football and taken away many aspects," the Daily Express quoted Low, as saying
Talking about how he would approach their crunch semi final against 'favourites' Spain, Low said his team would not be looking for revenge when they take them on.
The two sides met two years ago in the Euro 2008 final, which the Spaniards won 1-0 in Vienna thanks to a strike from Fernando Torres.
Low said: "We are not playing for revenge, those are not the kind of feelings I harbour. In 2008, there is no doubt that Spain were the best team at the tournament. They were also very good in the final. But now the situation is different. We too have a good team and we have every reason to believe that we can succeed."
"The mood is good but not euphoric. The team had a measured response to the Argentina match and is now focused on the game against Spain," he added. (ANI)
