More tournaments like Asia Cup needed to improve Indo-Pak relations: Moin Khan

Lahore , Sat, 26 Jun 2010 ANI

Lahore, June 26 (ANI): Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan has thrown his weight behind tournaments like the Asia Cup, saying such events would help improve ties between arch rivals India and Pakistan.

Moin pointed out that politics and various other issues have prevented the Asia Cup from being organised at regular intervals, however, all the cricket playing nations in the region must ensure that it is held after every two years.

"It is a regional event and if it is held regularly it will help remove differences among member countries particularly Pakistan and India," The Daily Times quoted Moin, as saying.

The former wicket keeper added that the member countries must help the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to organise the tournament at regular intervals.

"They must also bring in two associate nations and funds should be used to develop and promote the sport in Asia. Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh can play their part in helping the other nations take to the game properly in the region," Moin said. (ANI)
