'Angry' Misbah says he felt like burning his cricket kit upon being axed

Karachi, June 25 (ANI): Dejected over not being selected for the upcoming Test tour of England, Pakistan middle order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq has said that he almost felt like burning his cricket kit after hearing the news of him being axed from the national squad.

"It is very disappointing, you find yourself in the eleven and suddenly you are not even in a preliminary squad of 35, it prompts you to burn all your cricket equipment in anger," Misbah said.

The middle order batsman claimed that he averages better than most of the players who have been included in the 17-manTest squad which will face Australia and then the hosts England in the exhaustive tour starting later this month.

"My Test average is 33 and one-day is 39, and if you compare it with other players it is better than many, so it makes you think what's wrong with you," The News quoted Misbah, as saying.

"I am very disappointed because I was dropped last year as well and I came back through performing in domestic events, and then suddenly I found myself dropped again," he added.

Earlier, Faisal Iqbal, who had also failed to make it into the England bound squad, had criticised the PCB for its selection criteria.

"I don't see the justification for dropping me.I don't understand on what grounds the selectors have dropped me. In my last five Tests I have scored four fifties and other runs as well," Faisal had said.

"I don't know what is going on but my exclusion came as a complete shock to me. I never expected this. After being in and out of the team in the last 10 years I feel I have matured as a test player now and they have dropped me," said Faisal, who has played 26 Tests. (ANI)
