Mumbai, June 24 (ANI): The residents of Bandra's bandstand area in Mumbai have taken an extra step towards beefing up security by installing CCTV cameras, to prevent an attack like the 26/11 attacks in the city.

The Advance Locality Management (ALM), a group of 38 societies has taken a step towards making the area secure for the residents.

The residents say that the police alone cannot make the society a secure place and it is with the cooperation of the residents that crimes can be prevented.

"There are a lot of people coming in such as tourists and celebrities and high profile people live in this area. That is why we have started installing eight cameras within every 100 meters. And it will secure the whole Bandstand area. It starts with Bollywood actor Salman Khan's home, Galaxy Apartments and ends with Shah Rukh Khan's bungalow, Mannatm," said Archana Sharma, member of Bandra Resident Association.

"Basically these are all night vision cameras that we are installing. These are high-resolution cameras. The monitoring of this will be done through the CMS (Central Monitoring system) software and it is going to be linked with the police stations, the local DCP and through our office. Now through this we will be linking the ALM and the important members," said Amit Kapoor, Project officer of Security Blendz.

The installation of CCTV cameras would provide a sense of security to the residents of Bandstand, an area that faces the sea.

The cameras will also help the people to warn the visitors sitting near the coast during high tide. (ANI)
