Kolkata, June 23 (ANI): The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) has blamed the arrogance and bureaucratic attitude of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) for the worst performance of the Left Front coalition in the West Bengal civic polls.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Forward Bloc general secretary Debabrata Biswas said: "Due to the bureaucratic attitude of leadership of different tiers, organisational weaknesses develop, alienation from the people develops. So, organisational lapses are there."
He said since the CPI-M is a major party and heading the Left Front, it has a larger role to play in the alliance, but added that the other allies also have to own up responsibilities.e added that the expectation of the people was high, but the government has failed to meet those expectations.
Biswas ruled out the possibility of advancing assembly polls in West Bengal, slated to be held in 2011 to elect a new 294-member legislature.
"As per the Constitution, the ruling party can approach the Election Commissioner to announce the election. It is the constitutional right. So, one year is there. Left Front has now decided that they don't want early poll; as usual in the due time elections will be held. Why show hurry?" said Biswas. (ANI)
