S. Africans burning, brewing and smoking to help Bafana Bafana go ahead

Johannesburg, Mon, 21 Jun 2010 ANI

Johannesburg, June 21 (ANI): South African fans are burning, brewing and smoking a mixture of herbs, plants and animal parts, such as vulture brains and aloe in the hope of changing the plunging fortunes of the national team in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

With the popular Vuvuzelas falling far short of providing a winning boost, some locals are turning to other, far more imaginative means of help to increase Bafana Bafana's chances of making it through the first round of the tournament.

"Muti works," said Miriam Lethaba, a 62-year-old domestic worker from Ratanda, a township west of Johannesburg. "It can make Bafana strong."

Bafana Bafana, lost to Uruguay on Wednesday and needs to beat France on Tuesday to have any chance of reaching to the knock-out rounds.

If they fail to advance, South Africa would become the first host team to be eliminated from the tournament in the first round, sports24.co.za reports. (ANI)
