Kolkata, June 11 (ANI): Football lovers in Kolkata celebrated the world's biggest football event at Kalighat to mark the beginning of the World Cup.

India, ranked 133rd in the world, has never come close to qualifying for the World Cup, but that does not seem to have dampened the enthusiasm of the fans for the month-long tournament.

"The World Cup football is starting today. We are supporting all the 32 countries with their flags. We are feeling bad that our country is not playing, but we are supporting all the 32 countries," said Sandip Jha, a football fan.

The fans are avidly supporting Brazil, Argentina, and Italy.

"We wanted to see good matches in this World Cup. Teams that we are supporting are Brazil, Argentina, and Italy," said Abhijit Mukherjee, a fan.nthusiastic fans also painted their face with the jersey colours of participating countries.
