Videocon to invest Rs 400 crore in Kerala

Kochi (Kerala), June 5 (ANI): India's leading business conglomerates, Videocon, which launched its GSM mobile services in Kerala, will be investing Rs 400 crore in the state with over 1500 signal towers or BTS in the first phase.

 

Aravind Santhanam, Chief Operating Officer, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, said about Rs 200 crore to Rs 250 crore has already been invested in the state

 

The services have been started with a network of 1500 BTS at the time of launch, which is expected to touch 2500 by year end.

 

The launch of Kerala services is part of the company's plan to cover 100 key cities and towns over 100 days.

 

Videocon has targeted to cover 100 per cent of the urban population and 70 per cent of the rural population in subsequent months.

 

"The brand will have a retail presence in over 15,000 outlets in the State from day one and plans to cover 22,500 outlets within 6 months, offering easy access to customers across the State," said Santhanam.

 

Videocon, which is the 11th mobile service provider in Kerala, is aiming to reach top three in the next three years. By Johan Samuel (ANI)
