New York, June 3 (ANI): A group of conservative activists are ganging up to condemn an animated program by Comedy Central called "JC", about the trials and tribulations of a young Jesus Christ.
The Coalition Against Religious Bigotry includes right-wing heavyweights Brent Bozell (president, Media Research Center), Tony Perkins (president, Family Research Council), Michael Medved (talk radio host), Bill Donohue (president, Catholic League) and Tim Winter (president, Parents Television Council).
The group will be holding a press conference on June 3 in an attempt to lure advertisers away from the show.
"After we reveal the vile and offensive nature of Comedy Central's previous characterizations of Jesus Christ and God the Father, we expect these advertisers to agree wholeheartedly," the New York Daily News quoted Brent Bozell as saying in a statement.
"'JC' is said to be about Jesus living it up in the big city after spurning his 'powerful but apathetic father'," Bozell stated.
Comedy Central recently came under fire from Islamic groups when "South Park" depicted the Prophet Muhammad in a bear costume.
The network later edited the show with numerous bleeps, leading some conservatives to view "JC" as a religious double standard.
To bolster their case, the conservative group made a video that depicts Comedy Central's former slights against the Christian church. (ANI)
