Mumbai, Apr 25 (ANI): Bollywood's actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan released the soundtrack of their forthcoming film 'Raavan' in Mumbai.
Directed by renowned filmmaker Mani Ratnam, real-life couple Abhishek and Aishwarya play the lead roles.
The launch was unique with songs and music from the film being performed by the actors.
The film's music director, Academy Award-winner A R Rahman sang a song whilst lyricist Gulzar read out lyrics written by him. The soundtrack has six songs.
Aishwarya was the compere for the evening in compliance with the director's wishes, she told reporters.
"It was Mani's idea to have the evening unveil this way to still keep it light, keep it easy. He wanted me to keep it with giggles and the odd laugh...Just keep it really light and so that's the way I kept it," Aishwarya said.
"We didn't make it pensive because the making of this movie is seemingly serious because of...as challenging as it is, as you see in the cuts and the promos you saw today, but at the same time we actually had fun doing it," she added.
Meanwhile, Abhishek gave a stunning dance performance on a song, as well.
"In the film, Beera, which is my character, his pet-name is 'Raavan' and after the way he behaves, as you can see, it's a correct pet-name. I think every human being has a good side and a bad side and I think that needs to be balanced out to stay stable," Abhishek said.
'Raavan' is a loose adaptation set in modern times of the great Indian mythological epic 'Ramayana', which tells the story of Rama, the King of Ayodhya, whose wife Sita is abducted by the King of Lanka, Ravana.
The film is slated for release on June 18. (ANI)
