Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh), Apr 25 (ANI): Tibetan nuns of Dolma Nunnery and scores of Tibetans living-in-exile held a candlelight vigil in Dharamsala in memory of the victims of recent earthquake in Tibet.

Reportedly, over 2,000 people died last week in the tremors that rocked the heavily Tibetan area in Qinghai province.

Most of the dead in the 6.9 magnitude quake that struck Yushu's main town of Gyegu on April 14 were ethnic Tibetans.

The nuns and Tibetans offered prayers for the victims in Dharamsala's Norbu Lingka monastery on Saturday evening.

"The earthquake that happened in Tibet killed so many Tibetans. More than 8,000 Tibetans died, many of them are still in bad condition. They are wounded. So all of us stand in solidarity with our prayers," said Tenzin Tsondu, an organizer.

"We stand with them. This is particularly to say prayers for the dead and stand in solidarity with those who are still surviving and whose parents or family are dead now," he added. (ANI)
