Lahore, Apr.23 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that none of the members of the national selection committee would accompany the national squad during the ICC T20 World Championship and the selection process during the tournament would be handled by the team manager, coach and the captain.

"No member of national selection committee is accompanying the team on the tour," The Nation quoted a PCB official, as saying.

Earlier, there were reports that one of the selection committee members will be travelling with the team to the West Indies to look after the selection of players on a match-to-match basis during the tournament.

It may be noted that skipper Shahid Afridi had expressed his disappointment over the players selected for the T20 Championship.

He said that he was not part of the selection team, and that the names suggested by him as replacements for injured Umar Gul and Yasir Arafat were also rejected by the board.

Afridi had asked for opener Shahzaib Hassan in the team while coach Waqar Younis and chief selector Mohsin Khan named fast bowlerMohammed Sami and rookie pacer Muhammad Irfan to fill in the place in the 15-man squad.

However, the PCB gave left-arm spinner Abdul Rehman preference ahead of Irfan. (ANI)
