London, Apr 19 (ANI): Spanish striker Fernando Torres, who underwent knife for a 50-minute operation, will miss the rest of the season, but would be fit in time for the World Cup.
The Liverpool striker went under the knife for a 50-minute operation, which went well last night after suffering cartilage damage in his right knee.
A Reds spokesman said: "Fernando saw a specialist in Spain earlier today and it was decided he would need surgery."
"As a guide, the usual rehabilitation period for this procedure is around six weeks," The Sun quoted the spokesman, as saying.
It is the same knee and the same procedure that Torres had back in January and he was only out for a little over a month then.
That means he should be fit to spearhead Spain's World Cup bid. (ANI)
