London, April 14 (ANI): Gurinder Chadha has revealed that her new romantic comedy horror movie 'It's A Wonderful Afterlife' is inspired by hormones.
The director said that she wrote the film because she was feeling hormonal after giving birth.
The film tells the story of a mother who murders suitors who turn down her frumpy, grumpy daughter, only to become haunted by them.
"I think I was very hormonal, I was pregnant or I'd had the babies, I was feeling quite spiritual," the Mirror quoted her as saying.
"But the original idea was that people wanted me to make another Bend It Like Beckham, and it's really hard because I don't want to repeat myself. I think this film is the naughty second cousin of Bend It Like Beckham.
"It's set back in that community but it's more of a horror, ghosts, supernatural film. And growing up in England, we never saw films like that in our community, I just really wanted to make a ghost story with Indian ghosts, albeit quite comical ghosts. But definitely ghosts that are like my mum and my relatives," she added. (ANI)
