Bhubaneswar, Apr 9 (ANI): US Ambassador to India Timothy J Roemer has said that both New Delhi and Washington would be sharing their views on common security concerns in the coming few days.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday Roemer said: "We are talking about going from the most important global areas like nuclear proliferation, nuclear security where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and US President Barack Obama will meet in the days ahead to talk about the US and Indian perspective, how do we keep the most dangerous weapons out of the most dangerous hands".
"In the world today where both United States and India have experienced transitional threats that can strike like a serpent across borders and kill hundreds of people. We experienced it in New York, you experienced it in Mumbai, how do we work together to make sure, that couldn't be a nuclear or a chemical crisis," added Roemer.
Earlier, Roemer expressed optimism about the early completion of formalities pertaining to the India-US civil nuclear deal.
India and the United States inked a civilian nuclear deal in July 2007, and finally formalized it on March 1, 2008, ending India's nuclear isolation since it tested a nuclear device in 1974 and opening up its atomic market for firms such as General Electric Co and Westinghouse Electric Co, a subsidiary of Japan's Toshiba Corp.
The deal has not been operationalised so far pending enactment of liability law, which is one of three key requirements. (ANI)
